Enroll Your Child
We are currently enrolling children in our pre-kindergarten and infant-toddler program.
Educare of Washington, DC, provides high-quality early learning opportunities for 157 infants, toddlers and preschoolers and their families. Educare DC is an extended-day, full-year, early education school that helps young children develop the skills necessary for success in school and in life. Our team of child development experts create a safe, comfortable, and stimulating environment to ignite your child’s natural curiosity and lifelong love of learning.
Our infant-toddler program, for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years, is designed to provide children with high-quality interactions and caring attention from their teachers. Each classroom has eight children and three teachers, who work closely with each child, supporting their social, emotional and cognitive development over three years.
Our pre-kindergarten program uses a play-based curriculum to ensure our 3-, 4- and 5-year-old students are ready to learn and succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Teachers design learning units based on the children's interests, and we partner with community organizations to bring additional services to the classroom. Three teachers work with no more than 17 children, allowing each child to receive individualized attention and instruction.
Educare is located in a new school that was specifically designed for young children and their learning needs. Every classroom has direct outdoor playground access and there are two dedicated indoor playrooms for play and physical development. Educare serves three healthy meals per day, plus an afternoon snack.
Family engagement and involvement is a core part of the Educare model. We have a team of family engagement specialists who work with our families to set and achieve goals for themselves and their children. We encourage family members to volunteer in the classroom and they are welcome to visit or observe the classroom at any time.
Educare is funded in part by Head Start and Early Head Start, so families must meet Head Start eligibility requirements to qualify for enrollment. Children with special needs are encouraged to apply. Specifically, families must demonstrate the following to be eligible for our program:
- Proof of child’s age: Child’s birth certificate
- Proof of address: Utility bill, lease agreement with your name on it
- Proof of income: Tax return, check stubs, SSI or TANF award letter
