In April 2019, Educare DC was awarded an Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership (EHS-CCP) grant. This grant funds our work with child care programs in DC’s Wards 7 and 8 that serve Pre-K, infants, and toddlers, nearly doubling the number of children we serve. Educare supports child care partners to reach Early Head Start quality standards by providing coaching and training and adding new services including health, oral health, nutrition, mental health, and customized supports for children with special needs. It also funds family engagement services, designed to support parents in their journey as their children’s first teacher, and as engaged community leaders and advocates. Separately, Educare DC works with National Children’s Center (NCC) to support additional Early Head Start classrooms for their families.
